A little boy

His little face told his annoyance and resentment very clearly. That was not the first time today he was asked to get out of his room, the least he wanted to do. They said it was not good for little children to stay inside for so long; that he should come out, breathe the fresh air outside, meet people, play with other children and the list goes on. But to him, that was the most comfortable and serene place he could be in. He has always got everything in there at his service. He got all delicious cuisines the moment he went hungry, he took nap after meals on his cozy feathery heart shaped little bed, played hide and seek by his own, enjoyed a swing ride every now and then..! He experienced a warmth and bliss in that gloomy little space.That room was very well designed and well arraned specially for him.

At times he wished to go out when he heard that rumbling sounds of a puppy or that sweet female voice which chattered vaguely sometimes, sang rhythmically to someone or that warm male voice which laughed cheerfully, called out somebody with concern…! Most of the time he heard the female voice but could never see any of them yet. He presumed those sounds were coming from the backyard where he had never been to.

Today, it seemed like they were determined to get him out somehow. They have been waiting for him for a couple of days hoping that he would come out willfully but he didn’t, to their dismay. They have been persuading him since morning but he ignored. By noon, it looked like they were winning because he got very hungry as he didn’t get his routine food and he knew that getting out was the only way. He finally decided but still hesitated. So he came up to the door and waited right there expecting them to open it for him; and they did!!

The beaming light outside hurt his eyes and he shut them tightly. His body was shivering with fear and cold and he tightened his fists. He cried out very loudly. Suddenly that female voice caught his ear but he kept his eyes still shut. They were trying to make him comfortable rubbing his cheeks and patting on his back. Then slowly he opened his eyes. They were all eagerly looking at him but he was searching for someone else yet failed to spot! It looked like they were competing to cheer him up and feed him but he was feeling highly insecure out there.

Later he found himself moving somewhere accompanied by them. He didn’t even want to know where they were taking him to..He was weeping; he missed his cozy bed and the playtime inside. He closed his eyes again as his eyes still couldn’t afford the brightness everywhere.

A soft touch on his face compelled him open the eyes; and there was that voice too!! He looked up and his heart jumped out of joy!! He saw an ocean of love on her face as he had always imagined!! A tall man who was standing beside her came closer, took his tiny fingers and said ” Heyy Luan baby! Welcome!!”. He was startled with that voice!! That warm voice which he used to love and believed it was meant just for him. With both of their arms around him he felt he was in the greatest shelter ever, for the first time.

The lady in white gown said “Ma’am, you can go home tomorrow. Both you and baby are perfectly alright!”.

Now the little boy frowned..”Home!!???”
